Dermal Fillers

As we age, our skin loses its volume, hydration, and elasticity all of which we need in order to promote a youthful, healthy-looking appearance. Injectable Filler is used to give volume and create contours on the face where they are needed or where the volume has disappeared with age. Often called Dermal Fillers or Facial Fillers, these products are temporary and non-surgical and can result in a younger, refreshed, and revitalized appearance. Our Nurse Practitioners use only the top-rated and best hyaluronic products available in Canada today, such as Revanesse, Juvederm, Teosyal Ultimate, Teosyal Global, Redensity II, Perlane, Restylane, Voluma, Volbella and Volift. All of these dermal fillers have an excellent safety record and are approved by Health Canada.

Tear Troughs/Tired Eyes, Cheek Augmentation/Countouring, Fine-Deep Facial Lines, Nasolabial Folds, Marionette Lines, Smoker’s Lines, Chin Augmentation, Jaw Contouring and Non-Surgical Nose Jobs.

Non Surgical Nose Job

The non-surgical Rhinoplasty, or non-surgical nose job as it is most commonly called, is a revolutionary non-invasive cosmetic procedure that allows the nose to be reshaped without surgery.

Through the use of injectable filler, the nose can be injected to straighten a nasal profile, lift a droopy tip, create a nose bridge, or smooth out a visible bump. For patients who seek to correct mild imperfections in the aesthetic appearance of their nose, non-surgical rhinoplasty is rapidly becoming a popular alternative to surgery. The Non-surgical Nose job cannot make a larger nose appear smaller or improve breathing, so it may not be for everyone. Some patients will need to consider a primary rhinoplasty as a treatment option for their desired changes. The non-surgical nose job can, however, correct imperfections on the nose, making it more balanced and symmetric with the rest of the face. This restores facial harmony and can result in a very pleasing, natural appearance.

What is BELKYRA™?

Known as KYBELLA™ in the United States, BELKYRA™ is an injectable drug that can reduce submental (under the chin) fat and redefine your jawline, effectively eliminating your double chin without surgery.

BELKYRA™ consists of a synthetic form of deoxycholic acid which is a naturally occurring substance in our bodies. When injected into a targeted area, it destroys fat cell membranes, allowing the fat inside to be released and naturally eliminated from the body.

BELKYRA™ is Health Canada approved, while KYBELLA™ is FDA approved, and both are safe for clinical cosmetic use. At UBB, BELKYRA™ is administered by Alisha.

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Rejuvenation

Often referred to as the “Vampire Facial” , PRP Rejuvenation is Safe & Natural

Vampire Facial or PRP is derived from your own biological make-up, there is almost no risk of allergic reaction with the treatment.

In a Vampire Facial or PRP treatment, blood is collected from you in 1-2 specially designed tubes which are then centrifuged for 5-10 minutes. During centrifugation, a patented gel within the tubes isolates PRP from other unrequired cells within the blood.

PRP is then ready for application by injection back into the skin.

Following the procedure, patients can resume normal activity almost immediately.

PRP & Vampire Facial treatment is suitable for:

  • Tired and dry skin, laxity of skin, uneven pigmentation

  • Signs of skin ageing

  • Fine lines and wrinkles

  • Overall texture and tone improvement

  • Certain types of alopecia or general hair thinning

  • Stimulates collagen growth and natural skin regrowth and renewal.

  • People looking for a natural treatment using the body’s own healing process

  • Stimulates collagen growth and natural skin regrowth and renewal.

  • Healthier skin that looks and feels healthier.

The Vampire Facial or PRP  involves the use of an ‘aerating’ Eclipse MicroPen for micro needling or collagen induction therapy. Alisha, the Clinic Nurse Practitioner uses the Eclipse MicroPen to gently aerate the skin, and then topically applies serums or skin care products.  The tiny micro perforations made by the Eclipse MicroPen allow for easier absorption of serum, product or even your own Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP); hence the name Vampire Facial.  The Eclipse MicroPen has proven extremely useful in the treatment of skin scarring, acne, sun damage and a host of other skin care procedures

The Vampire Facelift is similar to an injectable filler but instead of injecting a substance like hyaluronic acid or collagen, the procedure involves withdrawing a bit of your own blood so that it can be processed to concentrate the amount of platelets and other elements vital in tissue building. This processed blood is then reinjected to achieve the same volume-boosting results that any other injectable filler achieves, making the skin smoother and reshaping facial contours.

Is it safe?

Because PRP is derived from your own biological make-up, there is almost no risk of allergic reaction with the treatment. However, you do need to disclose all medications that you are currently taking, including herbs and supplements, to your technician.

IV Vitamin Infusion
  • IV Therapy can achieve serum concentrations that are not obtainable with oral dosing

  • At these higher concentrations some nutrients exert different pharmacological effects (ie. Anti-viral and                                        anti-cancer effects of Vitamin C at IV concentrations)

  • IV Therapy is more effective than oral or intramuscular administrations for correcting intracellular nutrient deficits

  • IV administration bypasses the GI tract so it is ideal for patients with compromised digestion and absorption, and is directly administered to the bloodstream, allowing for the highest level of nutrient absorptions (near or at100%)

  • IV therapy can be an effective route to adminster substances (ie. Glutathione) which are not absorbed orally

  • IV Therapy can give faster and better results than oral treatments in many situations

IV Therapy can be used to help many different conditions. Some of the most common conditions that

Migraine Therapy

Most of us are familiar with the wonders of Botox or botulinum toxin injection in treating aging signs especially wrinkles and fine lines. But did you know that Botox is also quite effective for the relief of migraine or headaches that occur frequently? Headache that comes back even after taking pain killers and occurs for 15 days in a month is termed as chronic pain. Botox for migraine treatment is recommended for this type of pain in order to relieve the patient of its agonizing symptoms.

The procedure involving Botox for chronic pain is essentially simple and gets completed in about half an hour.

Botox is Completely Safe for Migraines

Some people might be skeptical about whether this type of treatment is safe or not since it involves an injectable toxin. You should feel assured that once you are at the clinic, you will be given detailed information regarding the treatment so that you can make a decision based on your knowledge. Botox for migraine treatment has been cleared by the FDA so you can go for this type of treatment option without any reservation. Botox has been found to be well tolerated through several studies. The injection provides relief from excruciating headache for at least a period of 3 months. After that, if it recurs you can always go for a second dose. It is a safe treatment with very few known side effects and people who have had it in the past report complete satisfaction with the results.

How is it Performed

Botox injection involves a very small and extremely sharp needle, which doesn’t hurt much except for a burning sensation. From making the patient comfortable to finally injecting the medicine, the procedure shouldn’t take more than 15 to 20 minutes especially when performed by an expert injector. Botox for migraine treatment is considered safe and the patient can get back to his or her daily routine after a couple of hours. The procedure is meant for prevention or suppression of headache or migraine and therefore a complete recovery is not always possible. However, the patient will definitely feel an improvement within 10 days of Botox treatment. The procedure can be repeated every 3 months to ensure complete prevention of the condition and this time period has also been approved by the FDA. After the injection, if you still get headaches you can take other medications like pain killers available over-the-counter before taking the second dose of Botox.

It is recommended to visit the same clinic for every booster dose in order to minimize the risks and get the procedure done professionally.

The procedure has to be performed by licensed practitioners only who are trained to provide Botox for headaches and other chronic pain conditions including joint pain and inflammatory disorders. You as a patient can be completely satisfied because we have on board with us Alisha Smith, one of the most experienced specialists with years of hands-on experience in this field. Please note that provincial ministry plans do not cover the cost of Botox injections; however, private insurance companies provide coverage to some extent. Check your insurance package if you have any reservations on the cost of this procedure because the medicine itself along with the procedure is quite expensive all over the world.

Headache is something that becomes unbearable after a certain threshold is reached. And when it’s migraine, it brings many other symptoms with it including vomiting, nausea, lack of appetite, lightheadedness, and so on. People who suffer from this condition know just how difficult it is to cope with such an ache. Alisha is  available to help out in this regard. Alisha provides consultation to all patients and records their medical history before performing any procedures to ensure a safe and speedy treatment.

Hyperhydrosis

Hyperhidrosis is the medical term for the condition more commonly known as excessive sweating. Hyperhidrosis afflicts millions of people around the world on specific areas of the body, such as the underarms, face, palms and feet.

If you or someone close to you suffers from excessive sweating, you already know that there can be considerable emotional and social stigma attached to the condition, affecting their behaviour and emotional state. In fact, many sufferers experience emotional damage from negative reactions from other people, leading to a loss of confidence and self-esteem.

What Causes Hyperhidrosis?

Hyperhidrosis is caused by the over stimulation of endocrine glands (sweat glands) by the nervous system causing them to produce more sweat than necessary to cool the body. There are three main types of hyperhidrosis :

  1. palmar hyperhidrosis, sweaty palms,

  2. plantar hyperhidrosis, sweaty feet, and

  3. axillary hyperhidrosis, underarm excessive sweating.

Hyperhidrosis Treatment

Traditional hyperhidrosis treatment includes over-the-counter commercial antiperspirants, prescription antiperspirants, oral medications, electrical treatments (iontophoresis) and surgery – although not all methods are appropriate for all types of excessive sweating.

Botox® Therapeutic is a more recent and increasingly popular hyperhidrosis treatment that targets the affected area painlessly and effectively. The Botox temporarily blocks the nerve signals that stimulate the sweat glands in the treated area. A significant reduction in excessive sweating is usually noticed within two weeks of treatment, and results have been proven to last seven months on average.

How do I know if my sweating is actually Hyperhidrosis?

There is a simple scale called the Hyperhidrosis Disease Severity Scale (HDSS). Answers are yes or no, and they help your physician determine the severity of your condition. For example:

  • My sweating is never noticeable and never interferes with my daily activities

  • My sweating is tolerable but sometimes interferes with my daily activities

  • My sweating is barely tolerable and frequently interferes with my daily activities

  • My sweating is intolerable and always interferes with my daily activities

If you answered yes to any of the last three statements, contact us for a consultation.
